The cause of blackheads and ways to prevent them
Blackheads (Comedones) are caused by the blockage of the pores of the sebaceous glands of the skin with dead skin cells and sebum. Oxidation of fats under the skin can also lead to the dark color of blackheads. Blackheads usually form on areas of the skin with high sebum production, such as the face, back, shoulders, and chest.
The cause of blackheads
In general, the following factors can cause blackheads:
• High oil secretion: Increased skin oil secretion, especially during adolescence or as a response to hormonal changes, can cause blackheads.
Using greasy products: Using greasy products such as inappropriate creams and cosmetics can clog pores and cause blackheads.
• Air pollution and suspended particles: Air pollution particles can block skin pores.
Ways to prevent blackheads
To prevent blackheads and also to fix them, you can pay attention to these points:
• Skin cleanliness: Wash your skin daily with appropriate cleansing products to remove dead skin cells and fats from skin pores.
• Using anti-acne products: Choosing anti-acne products such as lotions and creams containing ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can help prevent and treat blackheads.
• Using products for oily skin: If your skin has excessive sebum secretion, use products for oily skin to regulate your skin and prevent blackheads.
• Use of moisturizer: Using the proper moisturizer helps reduce skin dryness and increase its flexibility.
• Using natural masks: using homemade masks such as aloe vera or cucumber can clean the skin and help moisturize the skin. Homemade masks with natural ingredients can soften the skin and prevent blackheads.
• Cleanse regularly: Cleanse your skin with the most appropriate products, while also using exfoliants to remove dead skin cells that may be clogging your pores.
• Limiting the use of cosmetics: Continuous and endless use of cosmetics may clog skin pores. So, you can avoid using makeup when you don’t need it.
• Proper nutrition: Eating foods containing vitamins and minerals such as vitamins A, C, E, and zinc, which are beneficial for skin health, can help prevent blackheads.
• Avoiding pressure and touching the skin: It is essential to avoid too much pressure and touching the skin, as well as not to scratch the pimples, in order to reduce the blockage of the skin pores and inflammation.
• Not using oily cosmetics: Using oily cosmetic products may block skin pores and cause blackheads.
Also, if blackheads are accompanied by worrisome symptoms such as severe inflammation, itching, pain or swelling, it is better to see a doctor to diagnose their cause and suggest appropriate treatment. Finally, if you are faced with the problem of blackheads and do not see improvement, a medical consultation or a dermatologist can help you to choose more accurate and suitable solutions to prevent and treat this problem.
