The cause of oily scalp and hair
Hair loss can be one of the causes of hair loss in both men and women. In recent years, many people who have referred to specialist doctors for hair transplants, studies have shown that the main cause of hair loss is the fat of their hair.
But before we clear the issue, we need to look for the cause. There are countless bad habits that make hair greasy, and this happens when the secretion of sebum (natural body fat) increases.
Scalp fat can be caused by various environmental, genetic and internal factors of the body or it can be caused by certain conditions such as:
1. Seborrheic dermatitis
Seborrheic dermatitis is a disease that irritates and inflames the skin. During it, pink and scaly areas (dandruff) are created along with the production of a lot of oil from the sebaceous glands, including the scalp. It can be caused by an allergic reaction or is a symptom of an autoimmune disease. Seborrheic dermatitis is not a serious disease. Home remedies can often cure or manage it.
2. skin diseases
Skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis can cause red, scaly patches on the scalp. Both of these diseases are related to immune dysfunction.
3. Acne head
When fat and skin cells get stuck in the pores of the skin, acne develops in that area. It can also lead to the accumulation of acne-causing bacteria and the appearance of acne bumps. Excess oil and fat often cause acne on the scalp.
4. Genetics
Genes can be very effective in producing fat by the glands and hair. This is why some people in their family have oily hair without any particular disease.
The connection between scalp fat and hair loss
Hair loss usually occurs significantly in oily hair, which can be due to the following:
- Family history and genetics
- Aging and aging
- Damage to hair follicles

- Wash your hair well every day with a special shampoo. Try to keep the shampoo on your head for at least 5 minutes and then rinse.
- Avoid brushing or combing your hair too much or too hard. Because by combing, the oil is transferred from the scalp to the ends of the hair.
- Hormones affect the production of fat by the scalp and hair. Factors that affect hormone levels (such as stress or birth control pills) can also greatly affect hair oil production.
Natural and herbal solutions to reduce and control oily hair:
Mix baking soda with 3 glasses of water and prepare a paste and put it on oily hair for a few minutes and then wash it with warm water, it should be done once or twice a week.
Use lemon juice because using lemon juice can have a similar effect to vinegar solution and reduce hair oil.
Avoid frequent dyeing of oily hair. Colored hair is more effective in secretion of fat than the glands under the scalp, so the hair is oilier.
Use apple cider vinegar as follows: Add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a cup of water; Wash your hair with a mild shampoo and then rinse with this solution. Wait a few minutes and then rinse with cold water, this treatment should be repeated 2 to 3 times a week.
